Symptoms
Find usages (option-shift-G) has stopped working on all projects since the upgrade to IntelliJ IDEA version 2024.3.5. Despite trying to delete cache, indices, and other such measures, the function is unable to provide results. The users are facing difficulties and their work is slowing down due to its inefficiency. Some users have noted that the Find usages function gets the job done when a new class is created, but it works only once. Changing scopes to options like All Places, Project Files, Project and Libraries does not alter the results.
Cause
The issue can be caused by outdated plugins being incompatible with the latest version of IntelliJ IDEA. Particularly, an outdated version of the GitLabDuo Plugin might be causing this problem. Information from the JetBrains agent and user experience suggests that the Find usages function often runs smoothly when GitLabDuo Plugin is updated or disabled.
Resolution
To resolve this issue and regain functionality of the Find usages feature, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings | Plugins.
- Find the GitLabDuo Plugin in your installed plugins list.
- Check for the plugin's updates.
- If an update is available, click on the update button next to the plugin's name, or just disable it.
- Restart your IntelliJ IDEA to let the updates take effect.
If this does not solve your problem, consider downgrading to a previous stable version of IntelliJ IDEA from here. For additional help or any further issues, reach out to JetBrains support.
