Windows: JetBrains IDE starts with wrong size

Problem

When launching IDE via desktop shortcut, the window is not maximized

Solution

Genetate the new shortcut with the following PowerShell script Open PowerShell interactively and paste these lines directly:

$ws = New-Object -ComObject WScript.Shell
$s = $ws.CreateShortcut((Join-Path ([Environment]::GetFolderPath('Desktop')) 'IntelliJ IDEA.lnk'))
$s.TargetPath = "$env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Programs\IntelliJ IDEA\bin\idea64.exe"
$s.WorkingDirectory = "$env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Programs\IntelliJ IDEA\bin"
$s.WindowStyle = 3
$s.Save()
