Question
It is not clear which ports are used and how many of them is needed for a successful connection to an IDE in the remote development mode.
Answer
In the default connection scenario with SSH, the IDE backend listens on 5990, then this port is forwarded to the local machine using SSH, mapped to the 5990 local port. So the client can connect to 127.0.0.1:5990.
If the remote 5990 is already in use, remote IDE tries to use the first available from the 5990..65535 range.
If the local 5990 is already in use, Gateway asks OS to assign a random port.
Basically, it’s enough to have one port available on each side for the remote IDE and Gateway, and SSH port forwarding enabled for the connection to be established.
