Problem
- Unable to connect to the IDE backend.
- Gateway connection process is stuck on the "Starting the remote IDE Backend | Checking for already running IDE backend" step.
- "Deploy failed" error when connecting from Gateway.
Resolution
- Connect to the server using SSH.
- Look for the
remote-dev-serverprocess in the process list. You can use a task manager such astoporpscommand:
$ ps ux | grep remote
...
user 1283 51.9 41.2 8372812 3349984 ? Sl 13:55 2:04 /home/user/.cache/JetBrains/RemoteDev/dist/1a6222f5b0ca6_ideaIU-242.19533.56-aarch64/bin/remote-dev-server run /home/user/development/spring-petclinic-kotlin
- Terminate the process using a task manager or
killcommand.
$ kill <Process ID>
Note: It is highly not recommended to stop a properly working IDE this way. It can break IDE caches and project indexes.
Now you can try to connect to a remote IDE from Gateway again. If the problem remains, please contact support and provide additional details:
- Problem description with details about your server (OS, default shell).
- Logs from the local and remote side.
