Problem
Gradle builds are failing with the following message:
Could not GET 'package'. Received status code 429 from server: Too Many Requests
As a result, dependency resolution fails, blocking the execution of the builds entirely.
Cause
An introduction of stricter rate limits by Maven Central.
Resolution
Use a public mirror, such as from Google: https://docs.cloud.google.com/docs/buildpacks/java#hosted_maven_central_mirror
A gradle.settings file example that overrides the Gradle Plugin Management repository and the dependency repository:
pluginManagement {
repositories {
maven { url = uri("https://maven-central-eu.storage-download.googleapis.com/maven2/") }
gradlePluginPortal()
mavenCentral()
}
}
dependencyResolutionManagement {
repositories {
maven { url = uri("https://maven-central-eu.storage-download.googleapis.com/maven2/") }
mavenCentral()
}
}
