Question
How to make GitHub Checks Webhook Trigger start builds only for Pull Requests?
Answer
Verified on: 2025.11.2
- Ensure the VCS root is created via a GitHub App connection.
- Ensure the source branch of the Pull Requests is included in the VCS root's Branch Specification. Note: Pull Requests build feature is not currently supported by the GitHub Checks Webhook Trigger. For more information, see TW-88688.
- Add a GitHub Checks Webhook Trigger and enable the Trigger only on Pull Requests option in the trigger settings.
Now, opening a new Pull Request on GitHub will trigger a new build.
Unlike a build triggered by the VCS trigger in a PR branch detected by the Pull Requests build feature, the build will show the source branch as the branch label. For the support of pull/N-like branch labels, see TW-96327.
The Pull Request information will be shown on the build results page's Overview tab under the GitHub Checks Webhook Trigger section.
