Question
For first-time Rider users, Rider provides the feature of importing settings from other IDEs.
Which kind of settings will be imported in the guidance?
Answer
Settings you can import into your new installation of Rider from existing development environments include:
For Visual Studio:
- Current theme (Light/Dark)
- Keymaps and Custom Shortcuts
- Recent Projects
- ReSharper Settings
For Visual Studio Code:
- Custom shortcuts, including custom keymaps
- Recent workspaces
- Current theme (Light/Dark)
- Plugin matching (best-effort matches)
The blog post introduces more details about import settings.
The import guidance will not list all shortcuts, but you can check the predefined keymap settings in File | Settings | Keymap.
To re-import settings, clear configuration directories or restore default settings in IDE.
