Background/Situation
Sometimes it is required to launch Rider from the command line to see the process stdout stream.
Question
How to launch Rider so that stdout is visible in the terminal?
Answer
Hint: If you use the Toolbox App, to find your Rider installation path, click the dots next to the Rider installation and select Settings.
- Open the terminal app
- Navigate to your Rider installation path
- Launch the executable file.
Windows
Execute the Rider startup script, bin\rider.bat, inside the installation path. Example:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Programs\Rider\bin\rider.bat
macOS
Execute the binary inside the application package, example:
~/Applications/Rider.app/Contents/MacOS/rider
Linux
Execute the startup script, bin\rider.sh, inside the installation path. Example:
~/Rider/2024.2/bin/rider.sh
If you need to collect the output afterwards, redirect it to a file, e.g. ~/Rider/2024.2/bin/rider.sh >output.txt
