Rider not breaking on exceptions or breakpoints

Symptom

Rider does not break on some exceptions or breakpoints. Breakpoints are displayed as yellow circles in the software GUI instead of a red circle or lighting bolt as usual.

Cause

The yellow circle icons are indicating that the Suspend execution setting is disabled for the respective exceptions/breakpoints, which prevents Rider from breaking on the specific exceptions or breakpoints.

Resolution

To rectify this behavior, the Suspend execution setting for the respective exceptions/breakpoints needs to be enabled. This can be done by following the steps below:

1. Open Run | View Breakpoints and Exceptions...
2. Click on any of the yellow circle nodes in the list
3. Enable the Suspend execution setting in the properties of the selected node.
4. Apply the changes
