Problem
Rider crashes reporting the "Critical Error Has Occurred" error. How to capture a crash dump on Linux?
Answer
Follow the steps below:
- The location of core dumps is specified in the
/proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern, please be sure it will not be piped to another program by|/path/to/programpattern, otherwise you have to reconfigure it to/tmpdirectory usingecho "/tmp/core.%e.%p" > /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern, and restore the previouscore_patternlater - Run the command
ulimit -c unlimited - Check the directory specified in your
core_patternfile (usually it is/tmp/or current working directory). - Then run Rider from the console and wait until it crashes.
- Find a newly created dump in the appropriate directory and archive it.
- Upload the archive to the Uploads Service and share the Upload ID (shown at the end of the upload process) in the corresponding YouTrack issue, Support request or thread.
