Question:
When is a commercial Rider license required for development? Do I need to have a commercial license if I stop working on a commercial project and start doing personal non-commercial projects?
Answer:
A valid commercial license (active subscription or perpetual fallback license) is required only while actively working on a commercial project in the IDE.
Once no commercial projects are being worked on, a commercial license is not required. A free non-commercial license can be used instead, and no active subscription or fallback license is needed to retain access to completed work or to stop using the IDE. After 12 months of continuous paid subscription, a perpetual fallback license is granted. It allows continued use of the specific version that was current at the start of the subscription term, without an active subscription. The fallback license is a commercial license. There are no limitations on the number or type of commercial projects it can be used for.
