Can't clone from Azure DevOps. Username is locked to organization name instead of user name. Cannot edit field

Problem

When trying to clone a repo from Microsoft DevOps, Rider asks for credentials, but the username field is read-only and contains the organisation name instead of username. This causes the cloning to fail.

Cause
