Problem
When attempting to place a breakpoint in Rider by clicking on the left side of the file, the action fails, and no breakpoint is placed. This issue occurs consistently even with a newly created C# console project.
Cause
It is known the "Cucumber +" plugin might interfere with the functionality, preventing breakpoints from being placed.
Resolution
If you have the "Cucumber +" plugin installed, disable it. To do this, navigate to File | Settings | Plugins | Installed, locate the "Cucumber +" plugin, disable it, and restart Rider. This resolves the issue, and you should be able to place breakpoints successfully.

As confirmed by the Cucumber + plugin vendor, the issue doesn't reproduce for them with the latest plugin version (25.0.1). Update Rider and the Cucumber plugin to the latest stable versions. If the issue remains and disabling the plugin resolves the issue, report the occasion to https://github.com/maximehamm/tzatziki/issues/128.
