Problem
After opening a directory-based project (such as a React application) and subsequently attaching a .NET solution folder, the Solution view may not appear. Because the initial project was a directory and not a .sln or .csproj file, the standard "Detach" option in the context menu may be missing or inaccessible, leaving the attached folder stuck in the project explorer.
Cause
When Rider opens a folder that does not contain a primary solution file first, it treats the workspace as a Directory-based project. If a .NET solution is attached afterward, Rider may maintain the directory-based explorer logic rather than switching to the full Solution view. Without the dedicated Solution tree, the typical management options for attached modules are not visible.
Resolution
To remove the attached folder without the Solution view, you can use the Delete action, which Rider will interpret as a request to detach the directory from the current workspace.
- In the Explorer tool window, select the attached folder you wish to remove.
- Invoke Edit → Delete (or press the
Deletekey) - A confirmation dialog will appear. Instead of deleting the files from the disk, Rider will detect that the folder is an attached module and prompt you with a Detach button
- Click Detach to remove the folder from your current workspace view
