How to show .dotfiles in Explore tool window in Rider

Background/Situation

There are some hidden dotfiles in your .NET solution folder (e.g. .gitignore or .dockerignore) and you want to edit these files in Rider.

Question

By default, these files are not shown in the Explorer tool window. How to show these files in this tool window?

Answer

The default view in the Explorer tool window is the Solution view, that shows the solution structure according to the project model. Dotfiles are usually not included in the project mode. Click the dropdown selector in the top-left corner of the Explorer tool window and select File System view. This view will show all files located in the solution folder, including any hidden dotfiles.
