Question
How can I locate and restore my font settings in Rider after upgrading to the Modern UI and finding that my previous font selection is missing?
Answer
When upgrading to Rider's Modern UI, some UI configurations, such as font settings, might not carry over. To retrieve these settings, follow these steps:
-
Check Backup Files Backup files containing settings for previous versions are usually located under:
-
Windows:
%APPDATA%\JetBrains\Rider<version>\colors -
macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/Rider<version>/colors -
Linux:
~/.config/JetBrains/Rider<version>/colors
-
Windows:
-
Open Backup Settings Locate and open
.iclsfiles in thecolorsdirectory using a text editor. These files might specify the font style and name you were using previously. -
Apply the Font in the New Version Once you've discovered your desired font, reapply the setting in Rider's new configuration by navigating to Settings | Editor | Font and setting the appropriate font style.
If you are unable to identify the desired font, an alternative solution is to install the previous version of Rider, which may allow you to view the settings directly through the old UI. Afterward, you can reintegrate the discovered font into the updated version.
