Question
How to debug core dump/crash dump in Rider's native debugger?
Answer
Follow the steps below to debug a core dump in Rider:
- Add a new Native Core Dump Debug Run/Debug configuration with the following parameters:
-
Core dump path: the path to the core dump you are trying to debug (e.g.
C:/dumps/foodump.dmp) -
Exe path: Path to the executable you want to debug (e.g.
C:/projectFoo/foo.exe) -
Binaries search path: depending on the application you are debugging, you might need to set up additional search paths, for example, if stored paths of shared libraries do not match the local file system. This is essentially the equivalent of
settings set target.exec-search-pathsLLDB configuration.
-
Core dump path: the path to the core dump you are trying to debug (e.g.
- Save the debug configuration
- Select the newly created debug configuration and start a new debugging session
