Problem
After updating the "Microsoft.TestPlatform" to version 17.13.0 and "MSTest.TestAdapter" and "MSTest.TestFramework" to version 3.8.3, unit tests are not executed in JetBrains Rider, while they run fine in Visual Studio. The error is "Inconclusive: Test has not run"
Resolution
Instead of installing individual MSTest-related packages separately, you should use the MSTest NuGet package, as it includes all the necessary and recommended dependencies in a single package. To resolve this issue, follow the steps outlined below:
- In Rider, open the NuGet tool window and install the "MSTest" package. Uninstall other MSTest-related packages to streamline the configuration.
- Rebuild the project via "Advanced Build Actions" to ensure proper configuration of the dependencies.
- Re-run the unit tests to verify the fix.
These steps address the dependency issues, and you should now be able to execute your MSTest unit tests successfully in JetBrains Rider.
