NB: In order to run MSTest v1 tests, Rider needs to use a console unit test runner that is distributed with Visual Studio and requires Visual Studio license. By selecting a Visual Studio installation below, you confirm that you are responsible for being properly licensed to use the Visual Studio installation.
Please note that MSTest support was added to Rider 2017.2.
Remember that MSTest v1 is Windows only, and it doesn't work on Mac and Linux by design.
-
Open MSTest settings: File | Settings | Build, Execution, Deployment | Unit Testing | MSTest
-
Choose the IDE folder inside the Visual Studio folder, ex.: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\Common7\IDE". Save settings.
-
Now you can run and debug your MSTest v1 unit tests: right-click on the solution | Run Unit Tests
