Problem
The Open with JetBrains dotPeek action appears multiple times in the Windows Explorer context menu when right-clicking a DLL file. Additionally, the action may remain visible even after dotPeek has been uninstalled.
Cause
This issue may occur due to multiple installations or updates of the dotPeek application. These operations can lead to duplicate context menu entries being registered in the system registry.
Resolution
To remove duplicate context menu entries:
- Run
regedit.exefrom the Start menu or the Run dialog (Windows+R) to open Registry Editor - Go to the registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell - Review the subkeys under this path and identify entries related to JetBrains dotPeek.
- Remove duplicate/redundant entries. Leave one valid entry for dotPeek or remove all entries if dotPeek is uninstalled.
Note: Editing the system registry can impact system stability. It is recommended to back up the registry before making changes. Contact JetBrains Support if further assistance is needed.
