Background/Situation
Need to launch a project that belongs to another solution (or any third-party app). Do not need to make a project be a part of another solution or somehow bind the application to the solution.
Question
How to launch another dotnet project (or any other app) without opening a dedicated Rider window?
Answer
A process might be started from Rider using the Shell Script run configuration:
- Open Solution A (the one from where need to launch another project);
- Go to Run | Edit Configurations;
- Add a new Shell Script run configuration (for the project that belongs to another solution);
- Type a command to launch, for ex, the web application might have launched in this way:
- Script text:
dotnet run --project ~/RiderProjects/SomeRepoToDelete/WebRazorPAgesa/WebRazorPAgesa --launch-profile "https"; Working directory is set to the same path: path to project directory with .csproj inside;
- Script text:
- Save the run configuration. Now you this configuration can be selected and launched from the toolbar:
So, you can launch any application that doesn't belong to the solution you edit.
