Question
How does Junie interact with the project environment and what shell does it use?
Answer
Junie interacts with your project environment through standard shell commands available in Bash, Zsh, and PowerShell, depending on the operating system being used. Based on the active shell, Junie executes operations such as file manipulation (e.g., mv, rm, cp), directory navigation (e.g., cd, pwd), and script execution (e.g., bash), using the same mechanisms a developer would utilize in a local terminal session.
Junie does not interact with the built-in terminal directly, as it uses its own terminal implementation to avoid compatibility issues, however it inherits the proper shell interpretation regarding of OS.
To check which shell you are currently running, navigate to Settings | Tools | Terminal.
