Problem

In PyCharm 2026.1.4, .tftpl (Terraform template) files are being treated as plain text, and the expected syntax highlighting and coding assistance as mentioned in the PyCharm Terraform documentation are not available.

Cause

Required bundled plugins for .tftpl file support, such as Terraform,, were not enabled in the IDE.

Ensure the Terraform and all other required plugins (e.g., Python, SSH Remote Run, FTP/SFTP/WebDAV Connectivity) are installed and enabled through Settings | Plugins.
