Unable to update PyCharm installed via Flatpak on Linux

Problem

Unable to update PyCharm with permissions issues:

PyCharm does not have write access to /app/extra. Please run it by a priviliged user to update.

Cause

The problem is caused by write permission issues in the Flatpak installation, as PyCharm resides in a read-only directory (/app/extra/). The Flatpak mounts read-only by design, so the in-IDE patch updater cannot write therePyCharm lives under the directory.

Resolution

The recommended solution is to reinstall PyCharm using the Toolbox App to manage the IDE installation efficiently.
