Unable to connect PyCharm to Docker

Problem

• PyCharm is unable to connect to Docker wth the error message under File | Settings | Build, Execution, Deployment | Docker:

  com.intellij.execution.process.ProcessNotCreatedException: Cannot run program "docker": error=2, No such file or directory

• The caused from How to connect to the remote Docker Engine article is not relevant

Cause

PyCharm is installed through the OS package manager from an unknown source.

Resolution

Reinstall PyCharm from the official repository.
